Roaring success of crisp packet collection point

Roaring success of crisp packet collection point

Nearly 6,000 crisp packets were sent for recycling in the first month of a new collection point at the South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) offices in Towcester.

In May, SNC announced that it had signed up as a collection point for the terracycle initiative which aims to make the 'unrecyclable' recyclable.

Since then district residents have been delivering around 140 empty crisp and nut packets every day.

Cllr Bambridge, SNC's portfolio holder for environmental services, said: "Reducing the amount of waste we put in our black bins is about culture change and I'm very pleased to see the number of people willing to go that extra mile to be kind to our planet."

The collection point, just inside the entrance at The Forum, Moat Lane, is run by volunteer SNC staff but anyone can set up a terracycle collection point for themselves, neighbours and work colleagues. For more information visit -

The Forum also hosts collections points for batteries and printer cartridges.
